Experience

Book Editing

April 2014 to Present

I have edited novels—romance, fantasy, mystery, women’s contemporary, historical, and more—that include a USA Today best-seller, an Amazon best-seller, an Amazon All Star, and a 2017 RONE Awards finalist. Most of my work is substantive editing, but I also do developmental editing and proofreading. Besides editing, I was project manager for two authors at Booktrope. I prefer to use The Chicago Manual of Style but am familiar with AP style as well and can adapt to others. See my book project list below.

Technical and Business Editing

1991–2000, 2008–2011

I edited hundreds of environmental and engineering reports, compiled and edited monthly and annual gold exploration reports, produced newsletters, and wrote and edited marketing materials. I also edited business plans, a grant application, and other company documents. Employers were WESTEC (purchased by SRK), JBR Environmental Consultants, Inc. (purchased by Stantech), Westmont Mining, and various freelance clients.

Production Editor, Academic Journal

2000 –2006

The Journal of Economic Issues is a quarterly international journal published by the Association for Evolutionary Economics. For each issue, I copyedited articles selected by the editor-in-chief and peer reviewers  (400–500 pages of text per issue) and laid out 250–350 pages per issue. Our authors were from all over the world. I used The Chicago Manual of Style and compiled a customized in-house style guide. The editor-in-chief was a University of Nevada professor, and I was a university employee.
